This Twitter competitor app was downloaded by more than five million people within four hours of launch.
“Just passed five million registrants in the first four hours,” wrote Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg via the @zuck account on Threads, Thursday (6/7).

Twitter Competitor Application Made by Meta Launches, Invaded by 5 Million Users Elon Musk Limits Twitter, Mark Zuckerberg Launches Rival Application TechCrunch reports that the Threads application is closely connected with Instagram.
But this application remains standalone. The content is text-focused like Twitter, but still with a distinctly Instagram look.
There are buttons like, comment, re-upload aka retweet a la Twitter, and share.
Here’s a list of features in the Threads app:
Profile
Users can open the profile menu in the lower right corner with a person icon. Users can edit the “Bio” profile and the desired link or change the account to a private or public profile or private account.
Replies
Will contain the replies made to the post, similar to the Replies menu on Twitter.
Activity
t’s on the bottom-right side of the profile menu with a heart icon. Users can see account activity like on Instagram, namely follow, Replies, and Mention information.
Upload Threads
You do this by clicking the bottom center button with the notes icon. Threads users can upload unlimited text, add photos, locations to tag other people or mentions.
Search
t’s on the bottom left with a magnifying glass icon. This feature allows users to search by typing the name of the content they want to search for.
Home or Home
Located in the lower left corner with a home icon. This page will contain uploads uploaded by the accounts that are followed. Users can like, reply, repost, quote, and share posts on Threads.
Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri also commented on the launch of Threads today.
“We hope to bring some of what we have for photos and videos on Instagram to Threads with text,” said via upload Reels on Instagram, Thursday (6/7).
He explained that Meta built Threads to create a friendly and open conversation space.

“So we will bring a lot of good tools from Instagram to Threads,” he said.
For example hidden words and boundaries, which allow users to shape the experience into something a little friendlier.
Mosseri will also have more features around recommendations and trends in the Threads application.
