How to apply to Cambridge University for Undergraduate level

For prospective students at the undergraduate level, you can register at Cambridge University by following the following steps:

  1. Choose the program of interest from the wide selection of study programs offered at Cambridge University.
  2. Verify the requirements requested by the study program you are interested in before the university registration deadline closes. Some study programs require prospective students to take a written entrance exam as part of the application process, while some other study programs require prospective students to provide written samples.  
  3. Choose  colleges. When submitting application documents to Cambridge University, you will be asked to choose one of the 29  colleges  available at Cambridge University where you will live while studying.
  4. Enter the registration file through the registration portal before the registration deadline. There are at least 2 (two) things that need to be considered at this stage: 
    1. Some study programs have different registration deadlines and application forms.
    2. You cannot enroll at Cambridge University and Oxford University in the same year.
  5. After going through the administrative selection, you will be asked to take part in an interview process before being accepted as a student at Cambridge University .

  2. Find out the application deadline, both the study program registration deadline and the scholarship application deadline or other funding sources.
  3. Enter the registration file according to the requirements into the  online registration portal  that has been provided
  4. Contact 2 (two) referees  who  will provide academic recommendations to support registration documents to Cambridge University. The university will ask the recommender to upload the recommendation letter directly to the registration portal.
  5. Choose  colleges. When registering, you can choose one of the  colleges  available at Cambridge University yourself or ask the university to choose one of the  appropriate colleges  .
  6. Looking for sources of financing. You can try to find/register for alternative funding sources at Cambridge University through the  online registration portal.
  7. Pay the registration fee. After completing the registration file and the required supporting documents, you will be asked to pay a registration fee before you can submit your application to Cambridge University.

Requirements and supporting documents needed to register for a Bachelor’s degree at Cambridge University may vary depending on the intended study program. Even so, there are some general requirements that are usually asked to register for an undergraduate degree at this university, including:

  1. Have international qualifications such as  A Levels  or  International Baccalaureate (IB).
  2. There is no age requirement to apply for the Bachelor’s degree. However, applicants over the age of 21 will be categorized as  mature students.
  3. Have an academic IELTS score of at least 7.5 (with a minimum score of 7.0 in all components) or a TOEFL IBT score of at least 110.

Requirements and supporting documents for the Postgraduate level

As with the Bachelor’s degree, the requirements and supporting documents needed to register for the Postgraduate level may vary depending on the intended study program. However, there are some general requirements that are usually requested, including:

  1. Have a bachelor degree equivalent to level 2:1 from a UK university. Prospective students from Indonesia must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 (if the study program places academic requirements as the main requirement, then prospective Indonesian students must have a minimum GPA of 3.7).
  2. Confirmation that you already have a source of funding to continue your studies at Cambridge University.
  3. Have received an offer to join  the College Membership.
  4. Demonstrate English proficiency with an IELTS or TOEFL IBT score. The minimum score required may vary depending on the intended study program.
